Demetra Tyler is a native of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Being in a city known for creative arts, theater, and culture, Demetra couldn’t help but become enthroned in the richness of its environment. She started in the arts with one of her first passions: photography. This mantle was passed down from her Father and Grandfather, whom both loved to take pictures. She would capture images of her family and friends with cameras she received from her parents throughout the years. To this day, she still has a box of 35MM film from those various moments in her childhood. Another passion started developing at a young age as well: singing. Her first singing gig was at her elementary graduation. From there, she progressed and learned more about singing through multiple church choirs. Demetra’s two childhood passions have progressed into the businesses she owns today. She is the founder and photographer at JeanMark Photography, named lovingly after her parents. Over the course of 14 years, she has captured the memories of men, women, children, weddings, corporations, reunions, and events. Her passion for music developed into unique event in Tulsa known as “Salty”. As founder and host of this live gospel music and poetry event, she enjoys showcasing local gospel talent and networking in the community. In 2025, Salty celebrated 10 years in existence. The Salty stage has provided over 200 artists the opportunity to express their talents in a way they may not have otherwise been able to. Some of the artists have went on to the national stage in television shows, performing arts teaters, and more. With the combination of her experiences with artists from Salty and her eye for photography, Demetra has helped artists with development to enhance their careers. One of her clients obtained a grant to record their album. As if being the owner of three businesses is not enough, she works full time as a Senior Project Manager in Corporate America with 25 years of experience. Through all of this, one scripture that Demetra lives by is “I am what I am by the grace of God.” (I Corinthians 15:10) |
